Papers of Professor Jesse Alfred Twemlow (b.1867) who was appointed Lecturer in Palaeograophy and Diplomatics (1908), and Associate Professor (1921-1934) in the School of Local History and Records at the University of Liverpool.

Prof. Twemlow's publications include an edition of the earliest Liverpool Town Books (1935) and the Calendar of entries in the Papal registers relating to Great Britain and Ireland. Papal Letters.
The archive includes correspondence, minute books and reports relating to the School of Local History and Records and material relating to Twemlow's publications and research. Twemlow's regular correspondents included Robert Gladstone Jnr, Ramsay Muir, John Macdonald Mackay, Henry Peet and Sir John Brunner.
