Early English books 1475-1640

Microfilm: items selected from Pollard and Redgrave's ‘STC’: Short-title catalogue of early English books, 1475-1640. Nearly 2000 reels of microfilm with cross-index and reel guides.

Goldsmiths'-Kress Library of Economic Literature 1450-1850

Microfilm: pre-1800 items from the Goldsmiths' Library of Economic Literature, University of London and the Kress Library of Business and Economics, Harvard Business School. More than 1600 reels of microfilm, with published guide.

Online: access for University of Liverpool users via The Making of the Modern World which extends the coverage to 1850.

The Spanish Civil War Collection 1930s-1940s

Microfilm: Copies of 3000 pamphlets arranged by subject, based on the Southworth Collection, University of California, San Diego, built up by the American journalist and historian, Herbert Rutledge Southworth. The collection contains a wealth of primary materials documenting the Spanish Republican period (1931-1939), the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and the immediate post-war years of the 1940s. 57 reels of microfilm and a published guide.

Josephine Butler Letter Collection 1816-1910

Microfiche: 2,500 letters between Butler and other British figures concerning repeal of Contagious Diseases Act and other feminist issues, filmed from the originals at the Fawcett Library (now the Women's Library), London and from copies of letters at the Universities of Leeds and St. Andrews and part of 1 of Liverpool's Josephine Butler collection. 273 microfiches, with chronological index, 1816-1910, subject index and name index. Evans Early American Imprints, 1639-1800

Nineteenth-Century British Pamphlets Online

Online: the 19th Century British Pamphlets project gives online access via JSTOR to the full text of more than 20,000 pamphlets in major research collections, including Liverpool's 19th-century Knowsley Pamphlets.

Daniel Defoe Collection

  • Records for all microfilm series are included in the main Library catalogue, but items within each series are not separately catalogued.
