Many of the pamphlets were bought on publication by the Reverend Thomas Green (Rector of Woodchurch, Cheshire 1705-1747) and have been preserved in their original condition; some of Green's manuscript sermons also survive, annotated to show the dates on which he used them.

The Lancelyn Green copy of the Monthly Chronicle for January-March 1732 is the only known perfect copy. The collection remained in the same family until 1966, when it was presented to the University by Mr. Roger Lancelyn Green, a member of the University Council.
